5 Ways Your Animal Sends a Message

One day I couldn’t find my cat Calla and I was getting worried. She’s really good at finding very creative spots to nap in, and sometimes I’ll look everywhere and come up with nothing.

My other cat Faro was lounging on the living room couch as I searched every nook and cranny with no luck, so I cleared my energy and asked him where Calla was.
Immediately I felt my body being pulled to the drum set in the corner of the living room. (My boyfriend is a musician, so our home décor is unique.) It bewildered me because our cats never really hung out around the drum set, so I didn’t know why Faro would nudge me there. When I got down onto the floor and looked under the raised base drum, I found Calla curled up and snoozing away.
It was so cool to me that Faro gave me a sensation in my body of being pulled in a specific direction. You don’t have to be a professional animal communicator to receive information from your animal like this. You and your animal’s energies are always connected, and that’s an open highway for messages.
The truth is, there are many different ways you can receive information from your animal. Here are just a few:
1. Seeing - This is literally a picture appearing in your head. One time as I sat at my friend’s kitchen table, her dog sat next to me and stared at me. I saw a flash of green grass which made me think he wanted me to let him out back. When I did, he jumped out the door and rolled in the grass like nobody’s business. (His) mission accomplished.
2. Hearing - Yes, your animal can give you words that you hear in your head. Several years back, I assisted in an out-of-town animal communication workshop and asked the students to connect to my cat and ask her some questions as a practice exercise. Shortly after that, my cat sitter texted me that she had been sitting next to my cat on the couch and heard the words “I am honored” in her head. This was around the time my cat was helping to teach the students that day. My cat sitter had no idea why she received that message, but it was clear to her that it came from my cat.
3. Feeling - This can be a feeling in your body, as mine was pulled to the drums, or it can be an emotion. My first morning in Costa Rica on a retreat to work with horses, I walked a trail from my cabin to the dining hall. Out of nowhere I was approached by an adorable young cow who came right up to me and gently cocked her head. I stopped and said, “hello” and immediately felt a warm, welcoming, joyous feeling that really calmed my nerves about embarking into the unknown of that trip. I didn’t run into her again — it felt like she did the job she came to do that first day.
4. Knowing - This one is hard to trust at first, because all of a sudden you know something but don’t know why. Before I was an animal communicator, I was doing a Reiki session for a cat and at one point I knew he wanted me to tell his person to get him cat grass to chew on. Once I got up the nerve, I told my client, and she realized he loved cat grass but hadn’t had any in a while.
5. Physical action - Your animal can respond physically to your energy and whatever is going on with you in the moment. One night I was lying on the couch texting with someone whose energy felt pretty toxic to me. As I paused to consider whether I should continue the conversation and text back, my cat who was snuggled up next to me spontaneously placed her paw firmly on my mouth and kept it there. This wasn’t typical behavior, and I got the message loud and clear. Stop communicating with this person!
If you are looking to receive a message or an answer from your animal, get still, take three slow deep belly breaths, and drop into your heart space. If you feel good and clear, just relax and allow the info in. The key is to release any expectations of how the info will come.
If you receive info from your animal spontaneously in any of these ways, it will most likely be when you are relaxed and open and not stressed, distracted, or anxious.
I have no doubt your animal will feel honored whenever you see, hear, feel, or know what they’re sharing. 💜
I love this info so much. I already feel connected to my animals, but will encourage more communication with these tips.
